LEGO Vincent van Gogh: Sunflowers – First Impressions

31215: LEGO Vincent van Gogh: Sunflowers is, quite literally, a work of art. We covered the reveal of this set earlier this month, and we are very excited for its release.

The building process of LEGO Van Gogh Sunflowers has been said to be “akin to painting”, and replicates the techniques used by van Gogh. The Sunflowers painting was created using an impasto technique, the process of applying thick layers of paint on top of the previous layers. This is also seen in the LEGO build, starting with the base and gradually building up the layers to create a 3D masterpiece.

Fun Fact: To mark the launch of the LEGO Vincent van Gogh – Sunflowers set on March 1st, LEGO has created two large-scale replicas of the painting, which will be permanently displayed at the LEGO Store in Amsterdam and the Van Gogh Museum.
