LEGO Mario Kart: Huge New Set Rumoured for July 2025

Rumour has it that there will be a huge new LEGO Mario Kart set released in July 2025. If true, the set will be part of the LEGO Icons sub-theme and will be priced at $169.99.

In previous years, vehicles in the LEGO Icons lineup have mostly been detailed replicas of legendary cars, such as 10295: Porsche 911 in 2021, the retired 2022 set 10304: Chevrolet CamaroZ28, the (also retired) 2023 10321: Corvette and 2024’s Lamborghini Countach 5000 Quattrovalvole but, among these iconic sports cars, we have also seen some fantastic sets based on fictional cars.

Both the, recently retired, 2020 10274: Ghostbusters ECTO-1 and the 2022 10300: Back to the Future Time Machine were released in the LEGO Icons line. The ECTO-1 was, of course, a replica of the car used in the 2021 film, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, rather than the original 1980’s version, but in a similar way to the DeLorean, each provided a throwback to a cult classic film car.

The idea of LEGO Mario Kart following the ECTO-1 and the DeLorean as the next fictional car in the Icons range, would be a very popular choice. There have already been five different Mario Kart sets released this year, all of which have been play sets. If the rumour of LEGO Mario Kart being part of the Icons vehicle line turns out to be true, the biggest question would be, which version of the Kart would LEGO recreate? We personally hope it’s the original.

Of course, as this is all based on rumours so there is potential that we could see something else entirely. A set to partner 71438: Super Mario World™: Mario & Yoshi seems, to us, the most likely alternative to the rumoured Icons set.
