New LEGO Mario Kart Set Officially Revealed
It has been an exciting day for Mario fans today as the LEGO Group has officially announced the release of LEGO Mario Kart 72037: Mario and Standard Kart. Scheduled for release on 15th May 2025 for £149.99 / $169.99 / €169.99, the 1,972 piece set is now available for pre-order and qualifies for the Mario Day double LEGO Insider points offer (until 11th March 2025).

The LEGO Group has done an outstanding job capturing Mario and the ‘Standard Kart’, creating a fantastic display piece aimed at adult fans of the classic racing series.
The build itself includes some interesting new elements. Mario’s face is captured perfectly thanks to what appears to be printed eyepieces and fun new pieces specifically moulded for the set, including Mario’s nose and moustache. Another new part is included on the ‘Kart’ with a new 6×6 round tile, printed with Mario’s ‘M’ symbol. Clearly, the LEGO Group wanted to make this a stand-out set in the LEGO Mario theme.

Although the LEGO Group is targeting the adult audience with the latest LEGO Mario Kart set, it didn’t opt for the classic ‘Pipe’ model, instead opting for the ‘Standard Kart’, which made its first appearance in Mario Kart DS in 2005. The version of the ‘Standard Kart’ recreated by LEGO is based on the design from 2011’s Mario Kart 7, but based on that instalment’s lacklustre promotion, most people are likely to know it better from Mario Kart 8 or, more specifically, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, the first of the games to be released on the Nintendo Switch.

LEGO Mario Kart, set 72037: Mario and Standard Kart, is available for pre-order now and will be released on 15th May 2025 for £149.99 / $169.99 / €169.99. Order by 11th March to qualify for double LEGO Insider points.
