LEGO Ideas Little House on the Prairie by Zsobricks

LEGO fan designer Zsobricks has captured the pioneer spirit of the Ingalls family in their charming submission to LEGO Ideas with LEGO Ideas Little House on the Prairie. With over 4,000 supporters, it is clear that many LEGO fans share their fond memories of the hugely popular television series, Little House on the Prairie (originally aired between 1974 and 1983), which was loosely based on Laura Ingalls Wilder’s best-selling book series, Little House.

About the LEGO Ideas project, Zsobricks says: “Little House on the Prairie was one of my favourite shows when I was a pre-teen, and I still have many fond memories of it as I was lucky to see it together with my late and beloved grandmother, my mom and my sister. We all loved it and eagerly waited for the newest episode every day in the late afternoon (in Hungary they aired the series very late, only in 1998, but at least we got to see a new episode every day on the weekdays for months).

I wanted to honour the show and these fond memories by building this set idea, and I am very proud of it, as I believe I managed to include everything from the series. I even hand drew the mantelpiece to make sure it matches the one they had in their Little House. I worked on this set idea for a few weeks altogether, in the evenings in Studio, until I felt fully content with it.

Now that LEGO made it possible to build bigger ideas, I might try to incorporate the Ingalls’ barn into my idea sometime this year as well, as many people commented this would be a nice addition to the set and would make the Little House and its surroundings complete.

Fun fact: In the final episode of Little House on the Prairie, the residents blew up the town despite being forced to leave. Since the crew had built on rented land, they got the idea to film the set’s destruction and use the footage for the show. It was pretty good action considering the times and technology.
